First time I've logged into Vox in ages.
I applaud this...and I weep for my country.
Keith Olbermann is a voice every American needs to hear.
Especially the Republicans.
This is a test of seeing what the HTML posting in Vox does now
And if all goes well, there should be a pic of me below this line

I guess the only way to confront a fear is to just go ahead and do it. So, after saying I was thinking about doing it and having been urged more than once by a number of people, I signed up for my first-ever open mic this evening.
And I was so not ready for it.
And...
I did it. No major flubs, although I prepared for 1 song, they told me I could do up to 3, and I didn't do the one I prepared (Moonheart) because when I started playing, Windwalker came out and I figured they didn't know what I'd prepared and any difficulties that I was going to have didn't exist if the people didn't know about them. And then the MC wasn't there when I finished, so I figured I'd best do a second, so I did Talis's Uffington Hill because I know it cold enough that I can do it in my sleep.
And I was terrified going up there; it's not only an audience, but a nonfilkish one and I'm doing songs with fantasy references and ones where the words (I hope) matter...
And...
I did it.

Now I want to go back.
And this is a very boring blog post.
Last night, I neglected to take the trash out. This morning, the ants that I thought were gone were back in full force.
*grumble*
I was trying to get an MP3 of the song "Like a Drug" by They Eat Their Own -- and I discovered, on googling, that Fiona Apple did a cover of it.
How cool! Now I need to track down an MP3 to see how her version compares!
